Hoist Drag and Swing Motor Field Excitors

Static
motor field exciters can provide a substantial increase
in production by attaining higher rope speed SAFELY. The
regulators are typically set up as current regulators. This
means that even as the motor and ambient temperatures change,
the output current of the DC drive set points remain stable.
This ensures the DC drive motors operate at PEAK PERFORMANCE
on a CONSISTENT BASIS. Due to these precise control methods,
the motors can be operated at higher RPM, yet stay within
the OEM ratings.

Power Factor & House Exciter
Static Field Exciter
Synchronous motor field regulation provides excavators
with a controlled power factor. This regulation can reduce
the line voltage swings during loading cycles.
Static house excitation provides voltages for such loads
as DC brakes solenoids following removal of primary motorfield
loads.
The rotating exciter system is no longer used with the implementation
of the static motor field exciters. This eliminates the
cost of maintenance items such as brush replacement, turn
and undercut, bearing replacement, etc.
Generator
Field Digital Exciter
The
use of digital DC drives in the mining industry is still
in its infant stages. The flexibility of the digital technology
allows the drive to easily interface with other devices
such as programmable controllers, operator interface terminals,
personal computers, etc.
The
digital drive has been installed on draglines as motion
regulators, motor field regulators, and power factor regulators.
The
horsepower of the digital drive ranges from 1 to above 1000
H.P. The drives can be a single quadrant drive (motor fields,
house exciter, power factor regulator), or a 4 quadrant
drive (hoist, drag, swing, and propel regulator).
