The
mining industry is becoming a very competitive environment.
Due to this competition, mining personnel are seeking ways
of increasing production of the existing mining equipment,
and reducing maintenance costs.
DCS has developed application enhancements for conventional
electrical systems that have led to increased productivity
and machine availability for mining excavators. The range
of DCS upgrades has included excavator system controls,
operator ergonomic concerns, power system voltage stabilization,
and web based production monitoring.

BoomPro
The BoomPro System will eliminate the need for any existing
tightline protection and rope limits. The PLC system being
offered has been proven on draglines. BoomPro provides static
and dynamic rope limits for hoist, lower, drag-in, and payout.
It also provides static and dynamic tightline limits.
Hoist and drag references reduction and brake setting allow
for implementation of the limits. The unit will provide
a resolution of approximately four inches, with a repeatability
of 0.0001%. This means that once the limits are set, there
is no need to continually check to make sure they are correct.
Operators
or maintenance personnel, can easily set all limits at the
operator interface monitor. To set the limits the operator
simply brings the bucket into the drag in rope rezero point
and presses rezero. He then takes the bucket to the hoist
up rezero point and presses rezero.
All hoist and drag limits are then set including slow downs. This
action also sets the static and dynamic tightline systems. It can
eliminate the need for an electrician to set the limits. Resolvers
will be used on each drum and will be supplied with stands and
gearboxes.
